Milan Charged In Check Case

A Milan man has posted bond after being arrested in Clay County on a Grundy County warrant.

According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, Michael S. Barnes of Milan has posted bonds totaling $2,700 cash. He faces two felony charges of passing bad checks in connection with checks written to Orscheln’s for $994.47 and $178.13. One check was written on July 25, 2010, while the other one was written on April 10, 2009.
He also faces two misdemeanor charges of passing bad checks. He is accused of writing a check on Dec. 24, 2010 to Pamida for $193.88 and a check to Engleman’s MFA on Aug. 8, 2011 for $84.50. It is alleged that he knew the checks would not be paid.
Barnes is scheduled to appear in court on June 12.
