Sheriff Herring said there has been a growing problem of a person or persons stealing fence posts from along roadways, sometimes 20, 40 or 50 at a time. He said the problem seems to be happening most often in the northeast quadrant of the county. While the motive is unknown, Sheriff Herring said he believes they are possibly being stolen for resale.
In addition, Sheriff Herring said the former Laredo Hy-Klas was broken into over the weekend, the second time it has happened in the past couple of months. Entry was made by breaking out the front door and several miscellaneous hardware items and cigarettes (Misty 120 Lights) were taken.
Anyone with information about either of these incidents is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 359-2828.
