According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, Casey Russell, 23, and Schalina N. Mabe, 20, both of 513 E. Ninth Ct., have been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a class C felony, and possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana, also a class C felony. They are accused of creating a substantial risk to the life, body and health of a three-year-old child by possessing and smoking methamphetamine, a controlled substance, where the child resides and was present. They are both being held in the Grundy County Detention Center on $20,000 cash-only bond and are scheduled to appear in court Jan. 10.
Also arrested was William R. Scholl, a 24-year-old resident of 1801 Oak St. He is being held on $50,000 cash-only bond on a charge of distribution, delivery or sale of a controlled substance, marijuana, which is a class A felony. He allegedly possessed the marijuana where a child resides within 2,000 feet of a community college.
Scholl is also charged with a class A misdemeanor of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. He is accused of possessing digital scales, glass smoking pipes and a glass jar with marijuana residue with intent to use them to pack, repack, store, inject, ingest, inhale or otherwise introduce a controlled substance into the body. Bond on that charge is $2,500 cash-only. Scholl is also accused of violating the terms of his parole on an original charge of unlawful use of a weapon.
Scholl is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 10.
Two persons were arrested for failing to appear in court on previous charges. Daniel L. Harding, 26, St. Joseph, is being held on $700 cash-only bond after failing to appear in court on a charge of stealing. He is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 10.
Michelle D. Taylor, 29, 201 E. Ninth Ct., failed to appear in court on a charge of not maintaining financial responsibility for a vehicle. She has posted $150 cash-only bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 10.
