Two Are Facing Additional Charges

Two persons who were already in the custody of law enforcement are now facing additional charges.

According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, 50-year-old James R. Cook of Stroudsburg, PA has now been charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer. He is accused of assaulting Mis-souri Highway Patrol Trooper Jason Daly on Aug. 27 by resisting arrest and causing Trooper Daly to seek medical attention for shoulder, elbow and wrist pain. His bond was set at $2,500 cash-only bond and he was scheduled to appear in court today.
Also arrested was Brenda Carpenter of Laclede, who was taken into custody at the Chillicothe Correctional Center. She is charged with passing bad checks and is accused of writing a check on a non-existent account to TNT Convenience Store on Sept. 5, 2010 in the amount of $31.64. She was scheduled to be returned to the Department of Corrections after appearing in court today.
