A Trenton man remains in custody of the Grundy County Detention Center after appearing in court this morning on charges of assaulting a law enforcement officer.

Darren Lee Patterson, 37, of Trenton was arrested Sunday evening by Trenton Police. He is accused of assault of a law enforcement officer in the third degree by allegedly shoving Detective Jerry Smith in the chest during an altercation on April 20.
Patterson appeared this morning in Division II of the Grundy County Circuit Court, where his case was continued until Tuesday, May 13. He is being held on a $2,500 bond.
