According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, the first charge against 39-year-old Lewis B. Johnson alleges that he wrote the following checks on a non-existent account at U.S. Bank in 2006: to Hy-Vee on Nov. 4 for $51.35; to Amoco for $21.07 on Nov. 4; and to Hy-Vee on Nov. 9 for $21.61. Bond was set at $700 cash-only.
The second charge alleges that he wrote the following checks in August 2006 on a non-existent account: on Aug. 21 to China One for $19.25; to Amoco on Aug. 22 for $22.28; to Pamida on Aug. 22 for $22.28; to Hy-Vee on Aug. 22 for $17.42; and to Pamida on Aug. 22 for $100.42. Bond on this charge was set at $1,300 cash-only.
Johnson is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 27.
