Local Man Held In County Jail

A Trenton man, 42-year-old Brian King, is being held in the Grundy County Jail on several counts of passing bad checks.

According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, King faces 14 counts of passing bad checks after allegedly writing the checks on a non-existent account at Investor’s National Bank. The counts include (with some counts including more than one check) the following checks written on the non-existent account: On Feb. 10 for $37.99 to Amoco; on Feb. 11 for $35.50 to Amoco; on March 14 for $75.25 to Hy-Vee; on March 15 for $20 to Hy-Vee; on March 16 for $20 to Hy-Vee; on March 26 for $32.02 to Orscheln; on March 26 for $160.71 to Orscheln; on March 26 for $79.27 to Orscheln; on March 29 for $17.07 to El Nopal; on April 1 for $35.46 to El Nopal; on May 1 for $29.83 to Save-A-Lot; on May 2 for $17.78 to Save-A-Lot; on March 30 for $34.95 to El Nopal; on Feb. 17 for $47 to Lakeview; on Feb. 17 for $36.15 to L & L; on Feb. 17 for $15 to Lakeview; on Feb. 24 for $33.87 to Lakeview; on Feb. 24 for $51.16 to Main Stop; on Feb. 25 for $336.02 to Pamida; on Feb. 26 for $59.15 to Main Stop; on Feb. 26 for $182.29 to Pamida.
King was also arrested for failing to appear in court on two charges of speeding and one charge of not securing a child in a seat belt.
He is being held in jail in lieu of bonds totaling $4,750 cash only. He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 25.
