Man Held For Writing Bad Checks

A former Tresident resident is being held in the Grundy County Jail after being arrested for passing bad checks.

According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, 42-year-old William Rush of Carrollton is facing two charges of passing checks. In the first count, he is accused of writing a $42.84 check on a non-existent account to Royal Inn on Jan. 26. Bond was set at $350 cash-only and he is scheduled to appear in court June 12.
There are 15 counts on the second charge, including the following checks written in 2006: on Dec. 7 to Easter’s for $28.08; on Dec. 7 to Easter’s for $42.10; on Oct. 1 to Hy-Vee for $28.14; on Oct. 16 to Hy-Vee for 33.99; on Oct. 18 to Amoco for $56.77; on Oct. 19 to Amoco for $19.20; on Oct. 28 to Save-A-Lot for $104.71; on Oct. 30 to Amoco for $49.06; on Nov. 11 to Amoco for $29.81; on Dec. 18 to Easter’s for $45.88; on Dec. 21 to Royal Inn for $48; on Dec. 23 to Amoco for $32.30; on Jan. 25 to Amoco for $36.92; on Aug. 10 to Amoco for $12.50; on Nov. 2 to Amoco for $24.62. Bond was set at $3,000 cash only on this charge.
Rush is scheduled to appear in court June 12.
