A CCW endorsement may be obtained on a Missouri driver license or nondriver license if the applicant meets qualification requirements. Beginning on July 1, 2004, the department began issuing driver license or non-driver licenses with the CCW endorsement to individuals who qualified for the privilege. The qualification process is administered through the county sheriffs in the state. To obtain a CCW endorsement, an applicant must present a Concealed Carry Certificate of Qualification to a driver license contract office. This certificate is issued by the county sheriff after ensuring the applicant meets the eligibility requirements set by state law (beginning at Section 571.101 RSMo).
The Concealed Carry endorsement is valid for three years and must be renewed to remain valid. The endorsement’s expiration date is printed on the front of the license. Grundy County Sheriff Rodney Herring said there are several persons in Grundy County whose endorsements will expire as early as June 2. There is a $50 fee to renew and those who do not renew on time and try to renew at a later date will be charged $10 per month up to six months.
