Man Faces Check Charge

A Ludlow man is being held in the Grundy County Jail after being arrested for passing bad checks on a non-existent account.

According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, 27-year-old Michael L. King has been charged with five counts of passing bad checks after writing checks on a non-existent account at Farmers and Merchants Bank. He is accused of writing the following checks in 2005, knowing they would not be paid: to Lakeview Restaurant on June 2 for $26.12; to the North Central Missouri Fair on Aug. 6 for $40; to the Laredo Hy-Klas on Aug. 22 for $15.93; to the Laredo Hy-Klas on Aug. 23 for $29.39; and to the Laredo Hy-Klas on Aug. 23 for $18.84.
King remains in jail in lieu of $7,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 10.
