A 20-year-old Unionville woman was fatally injured in an accident in Putnam County on Saturday evening when her vehicle was struck by one driven by a 14-year-old youth.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when a 2002 Ford Explorer driven by Holly Hydorn of Unionville was westbound on County Road 175, one mile west of Unionville. A westbound 2011 Ford F-250, driven by a 14-year-old male from Unionville, crossed the center of the roadway and struck the SUV head-on. Ms. Hydorn, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Putnam County Coroner Anna Fleshman. The driver of the truck, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Putnam County Ambulance to the Putnam County Hospital.
In addition to the MSHP, the accident was investigated by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and the Unionville Fire Department.
