Multiple Grundy County residents were arrested Tuesday, including a Spickard man who is facing several felony charges related to his use of brass knuckles during an incident in Trenton on Monday.
The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office has reported that Zachary L. Wilson, a 36-year-old Spickard man, has been charged with a class E felony of unlawful use of a weapon – exhibiting; a class E felony of first degree property damage; an unclassified felony of armed criminal action; and a class A misdemeanor of unlawful possession, transport, manufacture, repair or sale of an illegal weapon. Wilson is accused of exhibiting brass knuckles, which are considered a weapon capable of lethal force, in an angry or threatening manner and using them to cause damage to a 2001 Mercury Sable owned by Rodney Lawrence. Wilson’s bond was set at $10,000 cash only and he remains in custody at the Grundy County Detention Center.
Also in custody is Scott E. Riddle, a 48-year-old Trenton man who is charged with the class E felonies of operating a motor vehicle on the highway without a valid license (third and subsequent offense) and third degree domestic assault. He is accused of causing physical pain to a family member by hitting her on the top of her head with a pitcher and pushing her down. He also allegedly operated a motor vehicle on East 21st Street in Trenton without a valid license. Riddle is being held in the GCDC on $5,000 cash-only bond.
A Spickard woman, 30-year-old Avery Mock, is being held on $2,500 cash bond after being arrested for first degree property damage, a class E felony. She is accused of knowingly damaging three commercial door hinges, a steel door frame, a door stopper and a door closure owned by the Grundy County Law Enforcement Center, by slamming the door when exiting.
A fourth person, Bethany resident Cody L. Atkins, 31, was arrested on two class E felony counts of passing bad checks. The charges stem from checks written in 2019 to Beechy’s Bargains on non-existent accounts at Independent Farmers Bank. One check was for $317.60 and the other was for $101.62. His bond has been set at $714.27 cash.
All four defendants are scheduled to appear in court Sept. 28.
