A Kansas City man is being held in the Grundy County Detention Center after being arrested for attempting to steal a car in Trenton.
According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, Joshua R. Lusk, 33, is being held on $15,000 cash-only bond after being arrested and charged with possession of burglary tools, a class E felony; second degree tampering with a motor vehicle, a class D felony; resisting arrest for a felony, a class E felony; and attempted stealing a motor vehicle, a class E felony. Lusk was arrested after he fled from Trenton Police Sgt. Larry Smith, who was trying to apprehend him for tampering with a 1994 Buick Century owned by Gary Kenley. As he was attempting to steal the vehicle he tampered with the ignition and steering column, breaking the steering column in the process. When he was apprehended he had in his possession black gloves, scissors, pliers, screwdrivers, wire cutters, flashlights, a lighter, a magnet and electrical tape. He is accused of using those tools to break into the vehicle. Lusk is a prior felony offender and, if convicted, would be eligible for an extended prison term. He is scheduled to appear in court July 10.
Also arrested was Tyler D. King, a 27-year-old Trenton resident who allegedly violated the terms of his probation on an original charge of second degree assault, a class C felony. King is being held in the GCDC on $15,000 cash-only bond, with a court appearance scheduled for July 12.
