Man Charged With Stalking

A man who allegedly threatened to burn down a house has been charged with stalking and is being held in the Grundy County Detention Center.
According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, 37-year-old Joshua D. Phillips of Excelsior Springs is charged with a class A misdemeanor of second degree stalking. Phillips is accused of frightening, intimidating and causing emotional distress to two persons by threatening to pour gasoline on their home and light it on fire. His bond on this charge is $2,500 cash-only, however he is being held on $25,000 cash-only bond for violating the terms of his probation on an original charge of non-support. His probation has been suspended. He is scheduled to appear in court June 12 on the misdemeanor and on June 14 on the probation violation.
Also arrested over the weekend was Dusty Updegraff, 34, Martinsville, who was arrested by the St. Joseph Police Department and returned to Grundy County to face a probation violation on an original charge of non-support, a class A misdemeanor. He is being held on $5,000 cash-only bond, with a June 12 court appearance scheduled.
