Several Arrested Here Over The Weekend

Several Trenton residents were arrested over the weekend, with their charges ranging from burglary and stealing to tampering with a motor vehicle and endangering the welfare of a child.
According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, 25-year-old Forrest Shoemaker, who listed a Brookfield address, and 42-year-old Ricky E. Shoemaker, who listed a Trenton address, were arrested over the weekend and charged with second degree burglary, a class D felony; attempted second degree burglary, a class E felony; and possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid, a class D felony. They are accused of entering unlawfully a house at 428 W. 15th St., occupied by Ashlie Ishmael, for the purpose of stealing and attempted to pry open a screened window at a house at 422 W. 15th St., occupied by Steve and Danielle Ishmael, which was a substantial step toward the offense of burglary. In addition, both men are accused of possessing methamphetamine, a controlled substance. They are each being held in the Grundy County Detention Center on $20,000 cash-only bond.
Also arrested was 50-year-old David Wilson of Trenton who is charged with first degree tampering with a motor vehicle, a class D felony. Wilson, who is being charged as a persistent offender due to two or more felony convictions, is accused of appropriating a 2014 Toyota Rav 4 on April 1 without the consent of the owner, Jean Wilson. Wilson’s bond has been set at $10,000 cash only and he remains in the GCDC.
A Trenton woman, 37-year-old Jennifer Sparks is being held on $8,000 cash-only bond after being charged with two class A misdemeanor charges of endangering the welfare of a child and a class D misdemeanor of driving while suspended. She is accused of acting with criminal negligence in a manner that created a substantial risk to the life, body or health of two children, ages 16 and six months, by driving while her license was suspended and while she was being treated for epileptic seizures. The incident allegedly occurred on May 18 at the intersection of 10th Street and Tindall Avenue.
Also arrested was 30-year-old Denell S. Berry of Trenton, who is charged with stealing (fourth or subsequent offense), a class E felony. She is accused of stealing 20 items from 7th Heaven Convenience Store and has three previous stealing or shoplifting convictions. Her bond is $15,000 cash or corporate surety.
All five defendants are scheduled to appear in court May 22.
