May 18, 2018 | Law Enforcement

Two inmates at the Grundy County Detention Center have been charged after attempting to escape from the facility by breaking a window.
According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, Larry E. Brown, Jr., 35, Lakefield, MN, and Daniel L. Scott, a 23-year-old Trenton man, are both facing class E felonies of attempted escape from confinement and first degree property damage. They are accused of trying to escape from the facility by damaging a window and removing a security bar. They allegedly damaged a window, intercom speaker box, blankets, window trim, plexiglass window covering, inmate jumpsuits, towels, handbooks, Bibles, sporks and cups by using them or altering them when they attempted to escape. Brown was being held on charges related to a motor vehicle chase in the north part of the county in which a reserve deputy was injured, while Scott, who is on parole on a conviction of tampering with a motor vehicle, was being held for violating that parole, as well as an assault charge and a charge of resisting arrest. Both men are scheduled to appear in court on the new charges on May 22, with bond set at $15,000 cash only.
Charges have also been filed against a 52-year-old Trenton man, Alfred D. Green, who is charged with second degree domestic assault, a class D felony; resisting arrest by fleeing (creating a substantial risk of serious injury/death to a person), a class E felony. Bond on those charges is set at $15,000 cash only. He is also facing charges of leaving the scene of an accident, a class A misdemeanor; driving while intoxicated, a class B misdemeanor; and operating a motor vehicle on the highway without a valid license, a class B misdemeanor. Bond on those charges is $3,500 cash only.
The charges stem from an incident on May 16 in which he allegedly caused physical injury to a household member by using a deadly weapon to cut that person on the right side of the neck. He allegedly fled the scene of a motor vehicle accident and fled from Trenton Police Officer Luke Dapra, who was attempting to stop him for property damage and numerous traffic violations. He is accused of being under the influence of alcohol while operating the vehicle and did not have a valid license.
Green is scheduled to appear in court May 22.
