Trenton Fire Department
Aug. 16: firefighters conducted rental inspections at 1001 E. Ninth St. and 1910 Madison St. They responded to a gasoline smell in a home at 704 Crowder Rd., with nothing found and responded to a smell of burning rubber in the area of 12th and Normal streets, which was found to be a controlled burn. Firefighters responded to a call at Upper Lake Trenton during the noon hour and found an adolescent boy stranded in the lake after his boat became entangled in something under the water. Firefighters provided a rope to a bystander in a kayak, who paddled out and secured it to the stranded boat, allowing rescue personnel to dislodge it and pull it to a nearby dock.
