Keith D. Babbitt, an 86-year old resident of Milan, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Carriage Square Health Care Center in St. Joseph.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 18, 2016, at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Milan.
A visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the funeral.
Mr. Babbitt was born on July 26, 1929 in Pollock to Ora Lee and Elva Wyant Babbitt. He grew up on a farm near Pollock and served with the United States Marines during the Korean War.
He married Kathryn Boner Babbitt on September 1, 1956, in Gladstone. She preceded him in death in October 1988. He married his second wife, Connie, on Dec. 27, 1986 in Milan. She survives of Chillicothe.
Mr. Babbitt worked construction in Kansas City, until 1959 when he moved to Milan. He farmed until 1965 when he then went to work as an MFA tank wagon operator. He retired in December 1991. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Milan, American Legion Post 228 and the Tanglefoot Squares Dance Club. He was the past president of the Belles and Beaus Square Dance Club in Unionville. He enjoyed woodworking, playing the mandolin and dulcimer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Pamala Babbitt of St. Joseph and Susie (Tim) Frazier of Blue Springs; a son, Gary Babbitt of Gladstone; a step-daughter, Christina (Richie) Busby of Lawson; two step-sons, Christopher (Shanin) Parks of Princeton and Doug (Gina) Parks of Smithville; a granddaughter, Kathryn Stroh-meyer; step-grandchildren, Casey Johnson, T.J. (Heather) Busby, Brittney (Chris) King, Rachelle Parks, Ella Parks, Ava Parks, Josie Parks and Watson Parks; six great- grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Storey of Kansas City; and a nephew, Doug Storey.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Milan.
