Two persons have been charged with possession of controlled substances, while another person is facing a charge of passing bad checks.
According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, 26-year-old Duane L. Shiner and 27-year-old Janice C. Cooper, both of whom listed Chillicothe addresses, have been arrested and are being held in the Grundy County Detention Center. They both face two counts of class C felony possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana. They are each accused of possessing Tramadol and methamphetamine, controlled substances, on Feb. 4. In addition, Shiner is also charged with unlawful use of a firearm, a class C felony, accused of possessing a Remington shotgun when he is a convicted felon. Shiner is being held on $25,000 cash-only bond, while Ms. Cooper is being held on $15,000 cash-only bond. Both are scheduled to appear in court Feb. 10.
Also arrested was Bethany resident Ryan L. Southard, 22, who is charged with a class A misdemeanor of passing bad checks. He is accused of writing a check to Save-A-Lot on Jan. 22, 2013, knowing it would not be paid. His bond was set at $500 cash-only and he is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 10 as well.
