Suspicious Fires Reported

Nov 17, 2014 | Sheriff's Office

Two abandoned houses were destroyed by fire on Saturday, with the cause of the blazes called suspicious in nature.
According to Grundy County Sheriff Rodney Herring, no one had lived in either house and neither one had power running to it. Firefighters with the Spickard Fire Protection District and Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District responded to a fire on Route Y, where a house and outbuilding at the Forest Shirley/Julie Parker farm were burned. In addition, another house in Tindall, owned by John Kuttler, also burned Saturday. That house was in the process of being dismantled. Sheriff Herring said no one had lived in either house for a period of years.
The cause of both fires is suspicious, Herring said, and anyone with information may contact his office at 359-2828.
