According to Officer Larry Smith’s accident report, the woman on the scooter, Dawn A. O’Rourke of 2202 Chicago St., was northbound on Chicago Street and noticed that a car driven by Franklin D. Gannon of 2707 Hunter Rd., which was westbound on 22nd Street, had stopped at the stop sign at the intersection. As she began crossing the street, Gannon pulled his vehicle into the intersection, striking the scooter and ejecting Ms. O’Rourke from it. Gannon helped her up and took her to her residence. The two exchanged information and Ms. O’Rourke later contacted police. They contacted Gannon, who said he had pulled slightly forward to see around parked vehicles when he struck the scooter. No tickets were issued in the mishap.
Ms. O’Rourke complained of pain to her right hip and left knee and sought treatment on her own at Wright Memorial Hospital.
