According to Trenton Police Officer Larry Smith’s accident report, the mishap occurred when a sport utility vehicle driven by Douglas L. Russell of Chillicothe was northbound on Harris Avenue, crossing 17th Street. He failed to see an approaching car driven by Raymond L. DeGraw of 1816 Hillcrest St., which was westbound on 17th Street. Russell proceeded into the intersection, striking DeGraw’s car and causing it to run off the roadway and strike a utility pole. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene.
Both men were taken by Grundy County Ambulance to Wright Memorial Hospital for chest pains.
Russell, 48, was ticketed for failing to yield at an intersection.
