An investigation into the death of a 38-year-old former Trenton resident has concluded that he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to a press release from the Trenton Police Department, the investigation and results of an autopsy have led Grundy County Coroner Tom Eads to rule the death of Jeremy Michael Horner a suicide. Grundy County 911 received a call from 2414 Lulu St., at 9:27 p.m. Sunday. Shortly after the Trenton Police Department, Grundy County Ambulance and the Trenton Fire Department arrived on the scene, Eads was notified and responded to that location, where Mr. Horner was pronounced dead. Mr. Horner was a resident of Grove, OK, but was a former Trenton resident.
Based on the circumstances of the unattended death, the North Central Missouri Major Case Squad was activated on Monday. Several agencies sent representatives to participate in the investigation, including the Brookfield Police Department, the Chillicothe Police Department, the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol and the NITRO Task Force.
