According to Trenton Police Officer Randy Burks’ report, the accident occurred about 3:15 p.m. when a van driven by Emily L. Walker of 1210 Lord St., had stopped at a stop sign on the north side of 17th Street at the intersection with Harris Avenue. She did not see a bicycle, operated by Everitt D. Brown of 2009 Chestnut St., which was eastbound on 17th Street, approaching the intersection with Harris Avenue. The bicycle and the van pulled into the intersection and the van struck the bike on its rear tire. Brown was thrown from the bike at the time of impact and had to be taken by Grundy County Ambulance to Wright Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Brown told officers he saw that the van was going to strike him, but did not have time to avoid the accident.
Ms. Walker, 45, was ticketed for failing to yield at a stop intersection.
