One Transported Following Ninth Street Mishap

One person was transported to the hospital following an accident Saturday on East Ninth Street.

According to Trenton Police Officer Cyle Fewins’ report, the accident occurred when a car driven by Mariam J. Helms of 404 Kitty St., attempted to cross Ninth Street, traveling north from Kitty Street onto Bulldog Avenue. She did not see a westbound car, driven on Ninth Street by Julie D. Johnson of 346 Highway NN. Ms. Johnson said she attempted to stop when she saw Ms. Helms’ car, but could not do so before the front driver’s side of her car struck the passenger side of Ms. Helms’ car.
There was minor damage to Mrs. Johnson’s car and moderate damage to Ms. Helms’ car. Ms. Helms said she has a medical condition and was transported to Wright Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.
Ms. Helms, 68, was ticketed for failing to yield at a stop intersection.
