Conflicting stories made it difficult to determine fault in an accident investigated by the Trenton Police Department on June 6.
Conflicting Stories In Local Mishap
According to Officer Randy Burke’s report, the mishap occurred when a car driven by Julie A. Vu of 1012 1/2 Haliburton St., was westbound on Ninth Street, driving next to the center line. Another vehicle, driven by Cassandra Hunt of 1315 Mable St., was also westbound on Ninth Street, next to the curb. Ms. Vu’s car made a right turn into the path of Ms. Hunt’s car, with Ms. Hunt’s vehicle striking the passenger side door with its front bumper and causing moderate damage. There was no damage to Ms. Hunt’s car.
Ms. Vu and a passenger indicated that she had turned on her right turn signal, although Ms. Hunt and her passenger said that the right turn signal had not been activated and in fact, the passenger indicated that she had noticed Ms. Vu’s car stopped in traffic with its left turn signal on, then the right turn signal was activated as the car began to turn.
Due to the conflicting stories, no tickets were issued in the mishap.
