According to Trenton Police Det. Jerry Smith’s accident report, Retha J. Whitt of 1303 E. 10th St., was the driver of a car that was eastbound on Ninth Street. Ms. Whitt attempted to make a left turn onto Kerfoot Street, not yielding to a westbound vehicle driven by Jason Wheelbarger of 506 W. Crowder Rd. Ms. Whitt’s car struck Wheelbarger’s pickup truck in the left rear, causing it to spin around 180 degrees. The truck came to rest facing east in the westbound lane. The truck had moderate damage, while the car sustained minor damage. No injuries were reported.
Ms. Whitt, 86, was ticketed for careless and imprudent driving by failing to yield to oncoming traffic and having no state driver’s license when required.
