The Trenton Police Department investigated two accidents in recent days, including a mishap Friday afternoon on the off-ramp at the intersection of Highways 6 and 65.
No Injuries In Two Weekend Mishaps
According to Lt. Rex Ross’ report, the accident occurred when a van driven by Judy K. Lamp of Chillicothe was stopped at the stop sign on the northbound off-ramp of U.S. 65 at the intersection with Highway 6. A truck driven by Russell G. Nelson of 602 Grundy St., was traveling behind Ms. Lamp’s van and could not get stopped in time before striking it from behind. There was minor damage to both vehicles, with no injuries reported.
No tickets were issued due to the road conditions.
A ticket was issued in an accident Sunday afternoon in which one vehicle sustained extensive damage.
According to Sgt. Kris Schmidt’s report, the accident occurred when a car driven by Karen K. Guile of 315 W. Fifth St., had just turned right onto 17th Street from Princeton Road and was traveling westbound on 17th Street. A truck driven by Jared L. Phillips of 704 W. 12th St., was eastbound on 17th Street, attempting to turn northbound on Oak Street. Phillips did not see Mrs. Guile’s car approaching and turned into its path, striking it on the driver’s side. Her car came to rest after striking a utility pole. No injuries were reported.
There was extensive damage to Mrs. Guile’s car and moderate to the front of Phillips’ truck.
Phillips, 24, was ticketed for careless and imprudent driving by failing to yield to oncoming traffic.
