The Missouri Department of Conservation will host a free prescribed fire workshop on Friday, Feb. 7 at the North Central Missouri College Barton Farm Campus.
The workshop will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lager Laboratory. Those attending will learn how to use prescribed fire as an aid in managing wildlife habitat, forage pastures and CRP grasslands. Participants will learn about the benefits of fire to natural systems, and how to achieve desired management results with fire and the history of fire on the pre-settlement landscape will be discussed. Experts will teach how to develop fire plans, safety measures, what equipment is needed, fire scenarios and how to form fire team cooperatives.
