The Grundy County R-5 Junior High School basketball team won the Mercer Tournament last week, going 3-0 en route to the title. The Panthers topped East Harrison 53-3 in the opening round and then defeated North Harrison 41-6 in the semifinals. In the championship, Grundy beat host-school Mercer 51-24.
Zack Cross led the Panthers in the title game, scoring 21 points while Corbin Axtell added 14. In the semifinal it was Cross with 17 and Axtell with eight and in the opening round Cross had 13 and Axtell had 12.
