Life Options Green Hills was the topic of a program presented at the Thursday, Nov. 14 meeting of the Trenton Rotary Club. Tom Witten was the program chairman.
Rachel Brothers, executive director of Life Options Green Hills, told about the organization, which is a pregnancy resource center that will provide various services to women and men who find themselves faced with an unplanned pregnancy. Life Options’ purpose is to encourage, support and minister to those in an unplanned pregnancy by providing free pregnancy tests, options counseling, ultrasounds, material resources, community resource referrals, education programs and post-abortion counseling. Mrs. Brothers, who resides in Cainsville along with her husband, said her experience with an unplanned pregnancy at age 16 and the support she received led her to working with those who have had similar experiences. Life Options recently held a fundraiser, exceeding its goal, and is now looking for a location that would provide space for medical care and private counseling. A medical director and other medical personnel are being sought and she said that volunteers are also needed.
During the business meeting, plans were announced for the Dec. 12 Christmas party, which will be held at The Space in downtown Trenton. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with the meal to be served at 6:30 p.m. The Rissler School Fourth Grade Honor Choir will provide the entertainment. The meal will be prepared by the Five Points Alive group. During the board meeting, it was voted that the club would pay $10 of the $20 cost for the member meal and that members would be required to pay the $20 cost for their guest. The board also made a $180 donation to match funds raised during a recent PolioPlus “bag tournament” and chili supper at Princeton, co-sponsored by the Princeton and Trenton clubs.
Brian Upton will be the program chairman for the Nov. 21 meeting.
