The 23rd annual Trenton Marching Festival is almost here with 23 high school bands gathering on Saturday, Oct. 19 to take part in the evaluative events. These judged activities include parade, color guard, drumline and field show.
The morning begins with the bands participating in the Missouri Day Parade, presented by the Trenton Rotary Club and beginning at 8:30 a.m. The parade lines up at the intersection of Crowder Road and Main Street, continuing south on Main Street to Ninth Street before passing through the heart of the historic downtown area. The bands will continue on Ninth Street and exit on Normal Street to begin their other events at the main festival sites of Trenton High School and C.F. Russell Stadium for the remainder of the day. The rest of the parade will finish at Bulldog Boulevard.
The morning colorguard competition will be held in the Trenton High School gym, after which the drumline event will be starting in the early afternoon. Miss Missouri, Simone Esters, will be performing and will be available for pictures during the break in the drumline performances. There is no charge for events held inside the high school.
The field show competition gets under way at 1:30 p.m. at C.F. Russell Stadium. Miss Missouri will also be performing on the field during a break in competition. There will be an admission charge of $10 for adults and $5 for non-participating students and seniors while children 12 and under are admitted free. Gates at the football stadium will open one hour before the first field performance (12:30 p.m.). The Trenton FFA will be providing concessions at both the high school and stadium.
The Trenton Marching Festival will wrap up with an awards ceremony under the lights at the stadium. Awards will be given to the top three performances in each MSHSAA class for their respective event.
The TMF Volunteer Committee invites the public to attend this year’s marching festival and welcomes both first-time attendees and returning visitors. The committee also recognizes the efforts of the many volunteers who help make the event possible, noting it is very grateful to have the help of those individuals that helps bring directors, their students and families back each year.
