New officers were installed and awards presented during a banquet honoring Trenton FFA members on Friday night.
The new president of the Trenton FFA chapter for the 2018-19 school year is Melea Farmer. Other officers include Nick Velazquez and Laura Carlson, vice presidents; Grace Allen, secretary; Allena Allen, treasurer; Mckenzie McAtee, Kayli Crawford and McKenna Cox, reporters; Matthew Slater, sentinel; and Adreanna Gard, chaplain.
Junior officers include Jaycie Griffin, secretary; Kidridge Griffin, treasurer; Camdyn Leeper, reporter; and Olivia Roberts, sentinel.
Receiving the Star awards were Kidridge Griffin, Star Greenhand; Tyler Kidd, Star Chapter Farmer; Jayden Roeder, Star Chapter in Placement; and Teresa Yoder, Star Chapter in Agribusiness.
Chapter leadership medals were presented to freshmen Jaycie Griffin and Camdyn Leeper, sophomores McKenna Cox and Grace Allen, juniors Laura Carlson and Melea Farmer and senior Padyn Gibson and Emily Kasinger. The chapter scholarship medals went to freshmen Jaycie Griffin and Aidan McAtee, sophomores Mackenzie McAtee and Madi Cutsinger, juniors Karli Provorse, Kohner Geyer and Latorrie Johnson and senior Hannah Persell.
Several scholarships and individual awards were presented throughout the evening. Recipients included:
Kidridge Griffin – Kiwanis Loan and Frank Hoffman Memorial SAE Loan.
Hannah Persell – Ford Trucks Built Ford Tough Scholarship, the Jim Cassity Memorial Scholarship, the Trenton FFA Alumni Scholarship and the Gary Brinser Outstanding Senior Award.
Emily Kasinger – Trenton FFA Alumni Scholarship and the Colby and Heather Epperson Family Scholarship.
Jayden Roeder – Trenton FFA Alumni Scholarship and Black Family Scholarship.
Tyler Kidd – Jerry Whitney Memorial Scholarship.
Okla Fitzpatrick – Steinhoff Scholarship.
Matthew Slater – BTC Bank SAE Project Award.
Melea Farmer – Black Family Outstanding Junior Award.
Receiving the Meservey FFA Camp Scholarships and 4-D Tax Awards were Adreanna Gard, Nick Velazquez, Olivia Roberts, Trinity Gaunt, Melea Farmer, Laura Carlson, Allena Allen, Matthew Slater, Kayli Crawford, Jake McNabb and Camdyn Leeper.
Adreanna Gard received a community service award. The Black and Gold Award went to Lauren Dolan and the Blue and Gold Award went to Nick Velazquez. Receiving the Brownfield Farm Network Award were Olivia Roberts and Quentin Lovell.
Honorary chapter degrees were presented to TMS FCCLA Advisor Suzi Beck and BTC Bank, represented by Corey Gott.
Receiving local proficiency awards were Nick Velazquez, ag communications; Hannah Persell, ag education; Chase Otto, ag mechanics design and fabrication; Noah Lewis, ag mechanics repair and maintenance, placement; Teresa Yoder, ag processing and goat production; Elijah Merrin, ag sales entrepreneurship; Trinity Gaunt, Ag Sales, placement; Coy Bachman, ag services; Mackenzie McAtee, beef production, entrepreneurship; Grace Allen, beef production, placement; Padyn Gibson, dairy production, placement and landscape management; Dolan Huber, diversified ag production and grain production, entrepreneurship; Kohner Geyer, diversified crop production, placement; Kidridge Griffin, diversified livestock production and equine science, entrepreneurship; Hannah Persell, environmental sciences and natural resources; Rillie Ratliff, equine science, placement; Eric Wong, food service; Matthew Slater, forage production; Tyler Kidd, grain production, placement; Logan Stanton, home and/or community development; Camryn Willey, nursery operations; Karli Provorse, outdoor recreation; Eric Hines, poultry production; Maci Moore, sheep production; Libby Fewins, small animal production and care; Dakota Wendt, specialty animal production and care; Hunter Beverlin, specialty crop production; Haley Kidd, swine production, entrepreneurship; Quentin Lovell, swine production, placement; Payden McCullough, turfgrass management; McKenna Cox, vegetable production; and Preston Harris, wildlife production and management.
The top 10 percent active participation awards went to Kidridge Griffin, Allena Allen, Grace Allen, McKenna Cox, Kayli Crawford, Lauren Dolan, Mackenzie McAtee, Sara Spencer, Aaron Farrell, Hunter Beverlin and Lauren Dolan.
Fruit sales award winners were Grace Allen, first; Emily Kasinger, second; and Jillian Nichols, third.
