Two persons were injured in accidents involving Trenton residents over the weekend.
The first accident occurred on Sunday afternoon in Daviess County at the intersection of Grant Street and East Gilliland Road in Jamesport. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a northbound car driven on Grant Street by Kyle Downs, 18, of Trenton, and an eastbound car driven on Gilliland road by Roy Houk, 22 of Jamesport, both entered an uncontrolled intersection, with the Downs vehicle striking the passenger side of the Houk car. The Houk car rotated and came to rest off the northeast corner of the intersection, facing south, while the Downs car came to rest on the north side of the intersection, facing north. The Downs vehicle received minor damage while the Houk car was extensively damage.
A passenger in the Houck vehicle, 20-year-old Amanda Osborn of Tina, received moderate injuries and was taken to Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton for treatment.
The accident was investigated by Trooper MW Neeley, assisted by Sgt. JS Johnson.
The second accident was on Sunday night in Grundy County on Highway 65, seven miles north of Trenton.
The Highway Patrol reported a truck driven by Kenton G. Whitt, 40, of Trenton, was southbound when it went out of control and began skidding on the road. The truck traveled off the west side of the road, down an embankment and into a ravine, striking some large rocks. The truck then went airborne and struck some trees, coming to rest in the ravine, facing east on its tailgate. The vehicle was demolished.
Whitt received moderate injuries and was taken for treatment to Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving resulting in a accident and wearing no seat belt.
The accident was investigated by Sgt. Doug Little, assisted by Cpl. JA Pithan, the Grundy County Ambulance Service and the Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District.
