The Trenton Lady Bulldogs’ third foray into the district semifinals ended the same way Trenton’s first two trips ended – with a loss.
Trenton advanced to the semifinals on Monday with a win over Carrollton, marking the third trip for the program beyond the opening round. On Tuesday night, though, Trenton was handled by the Class 2, District 15 top seed, St. Paul Lutheran of Concordia. Trenton couldn’t handle the top seed, falling 25-15, 25-7.
Trenton was able to hang around in the opening game, but in the second game St. Paul Lutheran dominated from the onset, cruising into the district final.
Individual statistics for the Lady Bulldogs were unavailable as of press time.
St. Paul Lutheran would face host-school Lexington in the championship match and won that as well, taking the district title with a 26-24, 25-13 score.
For Trenton, the Lady Bulldogs wrapped up the season with a 7-19-2 record.
Trenton also advanced to the district semifinals in 2010 and in 2002.
