Additional filing information has been provided by area entities as they prepare for the April 7 election.
The Laredo Board of Aldermen had one person file late Tuesday for the one-year unexpired term on the board. City Clerk Ashley Boren said Jeff Smith will be the candidate for that position while Saundra Marrs is a candidate for one of the two-year positions to be filled. A second term remains open.
Voters in Laredo will also be deciding whether or not to approve a measure to allow for elections not to be held when there are no races for the terms to be filled. Current state law requires cities to hold elections, regardless, however, cities now have the option to change that requirement by a vote of citizens in the community.
There are four candidates for two three-year terms on the Princeton R-5 Board of Education. Nathan Evans and Blake Boxley will join Chad Smith and Amber Henke on the election ballot. Two persons are to be elected for a three-year term. Neither incumbent chose to seek another term.
No one filed for the two three-year terms to be filled on the Grundy County Nursing Home District Board of Directors.
The terms of Carol Seidel and Jennifer Barone are expiring. The board will fill the positions with community appointments following the April 7 election.
