The Grundy County Commission voted to place an issue on the April 7 ballot that could prevent the county from losing sales tax.
The issue would ask voters to continue to allow the county to collect sales tax on the titling of motor vehicles, trailers, boats and outboard motors that were purchased from a source other than a licensed Missouri dealer. If voters do not allow the tax to continue, commissioners said it would reduce local revenue available for vital services to county residents and would put Missouri dealers of vehicles, boats, trailer and motors at a competitive disadvantage to out-of-state dealers.
