Aug 24, 2007 | Golf, Sports & Recreation

The Trenton High School girls golf team continued its hot streak, winning its third straight meet.
The Bulldogs were forced to play without their number one and number three golfers, Hadley Jennings and Aaron Smith, who were unable to compete due to illness.

On a very hot and humid day at the Riverside Country Club, the Lady Bulldogs had several golfers step into new roles and the team came together to win with a team score of 208. That mark was good enough to beat Lafayette, which came around with a score of 236.
Molly Holeman stepped into the number one spot for Trenton and took home medalist honors with the low score of the match, a 47.
“Playing without our number one and three golfers due to illness, our girls stepped up and did a good job,” Coach Ann Constant said. “Molly played number one and was medalist with a solid score of 47.”
Holeman led the team in holes parred with two over the nine-hole match.
Taylor Cox also did an excellent job for the Bulldogs, carding a score of 48, the second-low score on the team.
“Taylor had her best and most consistent round of the season,” Constant said, “It’s good to see her getting back down into the 40’s.”
Hannah Barron and Alexandria Bain stepped up as well. The two part-time JV players were called up and delivered scores in the 50’s – Barron with a 54 and Bain with a 59 – to round out the Lady Bulldogs’ team score of 208.
Camie Steinhoff played varsity for the first time ever and delivered a solid score of 66.
The Lady Bulldogs remain perfect with three wins in three meets.
Lafayette was led by Lindsey Vest, who came in with a 55.
Although Lafayette didn’t bring a JV, Trenton’s JV competed and shot a team score of 266. The JV was led by Hannah Griffin, who carded a 61 on the day.
“I saw a lot of improvement from the JV’s last match,” Constant said.
The THS golf team will be back in action next Monday, Aug. 27, when they host Cameron at the Riverside Country Club in Trenton.
