The Grundy County Health Department still has flu shots available for the general public and will give shots on Thursday, Dec. 7.
Flu Shots Still Available
The shots will be given from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the health department. The shots will be available for anyone wanting to reduce their chances of getting the flu, however, the health department is recommending that certain persons who are at high risk of developing complications should get vaccinated each year. According to the Centers for Disease Control, those at high risk include individuals over the age of 50; anyone with a chronic health condition such as heart disease, lung disease, asthma, kidney disease, diabetes or a blood disorder; anyone with an immune system problem caused by disease; children between the age of six and 60 months; and pregnant women.
Eligible clients should bring their Medicare or Medicaid card for billing purposes. A donation is requested for those not covered by Medicare or Medicaid.
