The Lady Bulldogs shot a 416. First place went to Kirksville with a 358 and Marceline finished second with a team score of 402.
“I was very pleased with our third-place finish at the Brookfield Tournament,” Head Coach Ann Constant said. “It was very close between us and Chillicothe, Brookfield, Salisbury and Moberly. It was great to come out on top of that many quality schools.”
Hadley Jennings led the way for THS with a score of 44-47-91. That earned her third place overall. Courtney Lovegreen of Kirksville was the medalist with a score of 84.
“Hadley bounced back with a great round of 91,” Constant said. “Par at Brookfield is 80, so she played very well and placed fifth (tied for fourth) on the scorecard playoff.”
Grace Linn of Kirksville was the runner-up with a score of 86. Althea Hansen of LaPlata was third with a score of 87. Taylor Halterman of Kirksville was fourth with a score of 91.
Trenton’s Aaron Smith finished with her best tournament performance of her short career, carding a 52-52-104.
“Aaron had her best tournament by far, shooting a 104,” Constant said. “She was about 18th out of about 65 girls.”
Molly Holeman turned in a solid score of 54-55-109. Taylor Cox finished strong after struggling on the front nine, shooting a 62-50-112.
“Molly was consistent with scores of 54-55 for a 109. She had a much better tournament than the Sedalia Tournament,” Constant said. “Taylor Cox had a rough front nine. I was proud of Taylor for not giving up and coming back with a 12-stroke improvement.”
Chillicothe, Brookfield and Salisbury all tied with scores of 418. Moberly finished seventh with a 420.
“Since we only beat the next three teams by two stroke, it shows how important each stroke is,” Constant added.
Katherine Hoffman finished her day with a score of 57-59-116. Her score did not count in the team total.
“Katherine struggled with her putting, but played much better here this year than she did last year,” Constant said.
Other team scores included LaPlata, 439; Westran, 473; Mexico, 479; Brookfield B, 482; and Meadville, 617.
The Lady Bulldogs will look to build on Thursday’s success when they return to the links on Monday in the Kirksville Tournament.
