Funeral services for R.T. Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday Nov. 8 2003 at the Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Pastor Mike Moore will officiate. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton, with military graveside rites to follow.
An open visitation is now in progress. There is no scheduled family visitation.
Mr. Hobbs, a 78-year-old resident of 1705 Lincoln St. in Trenton, died on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 5, 2003 at his home.
Mr. Hobbs was born on Jan. 6, 1925 in Grundy County, the son of Cleo C. and Grace Robertson Hobbs. He graduated in 1943 from Trenton High School. He served in the U.S. Navy dring World War II. He worked several years on the Rock Island Railroad before retiring in the late 1980s.
He was married on Feb. 23, 1944 in Atchinson, KS to Phyliss Jean Webster, who preceded him in death on Jan. 7, 2003.
Mr. Hobbs was a member of the Joseph L. Norton Post No. 919, VFW, the Major Dale Stepp Post No. 31, American Legion and the Trenton Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Hobbs is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Ryckert of Paola, KS, and Carol, now Mrs. Gene Powers, of Gove, KS; three sisters, Mary Etta Kennedy of Trenton, Betty Huffman of Denver, CO and Donna Hammer of Gladstone; four grandchildren, Kerry Cowart, Karisa Truetken, Cheri Ryckert and Micca Cole; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob Truetken, Lakin Cole and Ethan Truetken.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Cleo C. Hobbs Jr. and Clifford Ray Hobbs; a son-in-law, Bob Ryckert; and a grandson, Bobby Lee Ryckert.
