Long-time community leader, educator and graduate of Trenton Junior College, Betty Frances Hall, has been selected by the Missouri Community College Association to receive the Distinguished Community College Alumni Award.

Long-time community leader, educator and graduate of Trenton Junior College, Betty Frances Hall, has been selected by the Missouri Community College Association to receive the Distinguished Community College Alumni Award.

Miss Hall, a resident of 831 Town and Country Lane, was nominated by North Central Missouri College officials and will receive the award at the annual convention of the state community college association this November in Kansas City.

Miss Hall has an extensive background in education and began teaching school in rural Grundy County schools following her graduation from Trenton Junior College in 1951. Her classroom employment included instruction in the North Kansas City School District in addition to the Grundy County public schools. She was one of the first teachers of modern mathematics, special education and job coaching – all new efforts in the educational system.

Following her classroom employment, she served the Chillicothe Training School for Girls for nearly 20 years in various capacities, including coordinator of vocational training, director of Federal Title programs and special education.

Other involvement of Miss Hall has includes the Grundy County Nursing Home District, where she served as the assistant administrator and, among her active volunteer service, her longtime affiliation with the Grundy County Learning Center.

Miss Hall has served as a trustee for NCMC since 1986 and is one of the original members of the board., where she has served as both the president and vice president.

Among her community involvement is membership in the First Christian Church, the Trenton Rotary Club, Business and Professional Women, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, American Association of University Women, Grundy County Retired Teachers, Church Women United and the Grundy County Health Department Board of Directors.

In making the announcement to the NCMC Board of Trustees this week, President Dr. Walter Nolte expressed delight in the recognition of Miss Hall. He called her an avid supporter of the college and one who has given countless hours of service to both board leadership and extensive development of areas to benefit the college and community alike.

Miss Hall becomes the fifth recipient associated with NCMC To receive the Distinguished Alumni Award.

Others have included Frank Hoffman, Lloyd and Margaret Ketcham, Larry D. Barnes, Chris Hoffman and Phyllis Jackson Dible.
