Polly Ann Allen, an 80-year-old resident of Princeton, passed away on Monday, Oct. 28, 2002 at the North Kansas City Hospital.

Polly Ann Allen, an 80-year-old resident of Princeton, passed away on Monday, Oct. 28, 2002 at the North Kansas City Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton. Rev. Guy Olin Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in the Princeton Cemetery.
General visitation is in progress at the funeral home, where the family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 o’clock tonight (Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002).
Mrs. Allen was born on a farm west of Princeton on July 19, 1922, the daughter of Orville and Madge Mignonne Higgins Cox. She was united in marriage to Edward Gene “Eddie” Allen on June 20, 1942. He preceded her in death on Aug. 14, 1989. She was a lifelong resident of Princeton, a 1939 graduate of Princeton High School and for the past 20 years has been spending winters in Mesa, AZ. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, north of Princeton, and the Order of the Eastern Star in Trenton.
Mrs. Allen is survived by two daughters, Ann Stanley and her husband, Phil, of Princeton and Kathy Thompson and her husband, Gary, of Avon, CT; three sons, David Allen and his wife, Jane, of Granville, OH, Danny Allen and his wife, Veta, of Cedar Rapids, IA and Frank Allen and his wife, Kim, of Chillicothe; 13 grandchildren, Staci Lewis of Cincinnati, OH, Doug Allen of Columbus, OH, Scott Allen and Amy Weber of Cedar Rapids, IA, Adam Stanley and Jill Doll of Kansas City, Cam Thompson of Folsom, CA, Gretchen Thompson of Pittsfield, MA, Laine Thomspon of Avon, CT, Cory and Kane Allen of Blue Springs, and Chloie and Kale Allen of Chillicothe; four great-grandchildren, Christopher, Emily, Megan and Dylan; one sister, Helene Ross of Forrest Grove, OR; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lloyd Cox; and four sisters, Lorene Sparks, Avanelle Smith and Cora and Betty Cox.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
