In addition to the traditional neighborhood visits, local children will have a chance to participate in community trick-or-treating activities.
The Trenton High School FCCLA and Student Council are sponsoring their annual Halloween Carnival and costume contest on Tuesday at the high school commons and gymnasium. Children ages preschool to third grade are invited to participate in games in the commons area, beginning at 6 p.m., with the costume contest to follow in the gym at 7 p.m. Donations will be accepted at the door, with the money to be used as monetary prizes for the costume winners. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Each of the participants will be videotaped as they enter the event, with the videotape to be shown on Tele-News 11 (cable channel 11) at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Photos of the costume winners will also appear in the Trenton Republican-Times.
The North Central Missouri College Student Senate will host a ?Spooktacular Haunted House? on Tuesday, Oct. 29 and Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 7 to 10 p.m. The haunted house is located at 1210 Chestnut in a house owned by the college and is three houses south of Geyer Hall. Admission is $3 per person or $5 for two persons. Children under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Proceeds from the event will go to benefit student organizations on campus.
The Trenton Ambassadors ?Sweet Sixteen? will host a trick-or-treat event for children on Thursday in the parking lot of the Williams Shopping Center. Children can come by from 5 to 6 p.m. and receive candy. Children are being encouraged to come in costume and Ambassador members will also be in costume.
Eastview Manor Care Center is planning a trick-or-treat event for children from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. Residents will be giving out candy to those who attend. There will also be a haunted room in Station 2.
Sunnyview Nursing Home and Apartments will have trick-or-treating for children on Thursday from 6:30 p.m. ?until the candy runs out.? Residents will distribute the candy in the Station 1 living room area.
Wright Memorial Hospital will be x-raying candy throughout the evening on Thursday. Parents who want to have their children?s candy checked can bring it to Station 1, where personnel will direct them to the area in which the x-raying will be done.
