A bid for a new skid loader was accepted by the Gallatin Board of Aldermen during its meeting held Monday, which also included a report from City Administrator Lance Rains on several items affecting the city.
According to information provided by City Clerk Lance Rains, the board accepted a bid from Foley Equipment at a cost of $88,951.15 with an extended warranty and delivery within one week. The recommendation for the purchase came from Public Works Director Mark Morey, who also stated that a quote from Jackson Lawn to remove and reinstall the snowplow brackets from the 2007 Chevy to the 2022 F-250 was $1,804.04. No action was taken on that item. Morey also provided the board with a copy of the notification from the Department of Natural Resources stating that the old water treatment plant is officially closed and no further action is required on the property. He provided a streetlight report that outlined the number of each size of streetlight as well as the 2021 revenue and costs associated with streetlights.
Other action taken by the board included the approval of the Missouri Main Street Program’s Community Empowerment grant and the approval of an ordinance authorizing the city to enter into an agreement with Midwest Injection, Inc. for sludge removal.
Rains announced that the annual MIRMA review is complete and the city has raised its score from last year. He provided the board with a magazine article featuring the LAGERS pension program and why it was created by the Missouri Municipal League. Requirements for subdivisions, which have been reviewed by attorney Robert Cowherd, were discussed and Rains said he is working with other community members regarding the Health Betterment Grant for the city. He also indicated there is new interest in the cupola building and the board agreed to allow the interested party to tour the property.
Ward Roofing and Construction was awarded the bid, which was the lowest of two received, for repairs to the old fire station roof. The bid was for $350.
In other business, the board heard a report from Police Chief Mark Richards and discussed the possibility of changing the central dispatch for emergency services for the police department.
A closed session was held to discuss personnel, with no announcement made.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 28.
