There is now a city council race in Trenton’s first ward as a former councilman has filed to have his name on the April 5 ballot.
Glen Briggs of 701 E. Fifth St., filed for office Wednesday morning, challenging the current officeholder, Kevin Klinginsmith, who has filed for re-election. Briggs has previously served on the council from the first ward.
The filing resulted in the second race for city council as Bob McIntyre is challenging the incumbent, Duane Urich for a seat from the fourth ward. Incumbents Marvin Humphreys from the second ward and David Mlika from the third ward have also filed, but so far have no opposition. Filing continues through 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28.
