Robert Joseph Gomez, a 77-year-old Trenton resident, passed away at 12:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021 at Centerpoint Hospital in Independence.
A family visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 4, 2021 at Slater-Neal Funeral Home of Trenton. Graveside service will follow in South Evans Cemetery north of Trenton.
Robert was born June 5, 1944 in Springfield, the son of Paul and Delores Gilson Gomez. He worked in law enforcement for many years including serving as police chief in King City, and as Deputy Sheriff of Gentry County. Robert also was a professional bowler and operated a pro shop.
On Aug. 11, 2009 he was united in marriage to Linda Johnson in Gallatin. She survives of the home.
In his spare time, Robert enjoyed watching football, bowling, fishing, going on casino trips and spending time with his wife.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jaycee Gomez and her significant other, David Emery of Savannah and Christi Green and her husband, John of Canton; three sons, Michael Gomez of San Antonio, TX, Sean Patrick Gomez and his wife, Jolisa of Maryville, and Brad Johnson and his significant other, Rebecca Werner of Trenton; grandchildren, Braxton Holcolm, Sean, Bentry, Elliott, Emmit, and Lincoln Gomez, Samantha Smith, Vince Green, Katherine Pliska, Jessica Ferguson and Lucus and Micah Werner; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Paul Gomez.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Green Hills Animal Shelter and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
