Robert Allen, a 90-year- old Trenton resident, passed away at 9:32 a.m., Saturday, May 29, 2021 at his residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the Church of the Nazarene in Trenton. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton.
A visitation is scheduled from 6 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Slater-Neal Funeral Home in Trenton. Open visitation will begin at 9 a.m on Wednesday morning at the funeral home.
Mr. Allen was born Dec. 4, 1930 in Spickard, the son of James Everett and Edith Flo Ham Allen. He attended Brimson, Cole and Trenton schools. He then enlisted in the United States Army and later moved to the United States Navy.
On Sept. 2, 1952 he was united in marriage to Donna Fay Bennett in Trenton. She preceded him in death on April 22, 2005. He was remarried to Lorene Dunlap Berry on April 3, 2011 in Trenton. She also preceded him in death on April 22, 2017.
For many years he worked as an over the road truck driver and scale mechanic. Robert enjoyed wintering in Arizona and was a motorcycle enthusiast. He was a member of the Trenton Church of the Nazarene.
He is survived by his daughters, Lori Overton and her husband, Mark of Trenton, and Cheryl Ann Harman and her husband, Dennis of Springfield; three sons, Pat Allen and his wife, Kris of Wittmann, AZ, Donald Robert Allen of Fulton and Randall J. Allen of Trenton; a step-son, Randy Berry and his wife, Mona of Centerville, IA; a sister, Donna Graham of Trenton; 17 grandchildren; 47 great- grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wives, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Lois Stotts, Loraine Provance, Ruby Fitzpatrick and Wanda Robinson; three brothers, Donald K. Allen, James Everett Allen, Jr. and Paul P. Allen; an infant son, Anthony Allen; two grandsons, Brad Strine and Jacob Allen; a great-granddaughter, Zoey May; and a daughter-in-law, Melody Allen.
Memorial donations are suggested to the North 65 Senior Center and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
