Lions Hear History On Local Club

Apr 26, 2021 | Clubs & Organizations, Meetings

The Trenton Lions Club met at noon, Tuesday, April 20 in the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall. George Moore, president, led the pledge to the flag followed by prayer by Jim Cox. Seth Cox served as “tail twister.”
John Holcomb spoke on the development and evolution of Trenton Lions Club over the 49 years of his membership. Chartered in 1938, the Trenton Lions Club has maintained its commitment of service to the community. For several decades the club raised money through broom sales and household items. Today, the club raises funds primarily through the North Central Missouri Fair concession stand. These funds are applied toward the Lions Club Scholarships, Missouri Boys and Girls States, Leadership in Practice delegate, Bright Futures, Grand River Choir and Orchestra and several requests from individuals and non-profit organizations. Holcomb shared his display of membership and service pins, a membership vest and a copy of the 1938 charter.
The next meeting of Trenton Lions Club will be at noon on April 27. Larry Smith will be the program chair.
