Kathryn’s family was fortunate to be at her side when she passed.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date at Hodge Presbyterian Church in Trenton.
Kathryn was born July 27, 1955 in Trenton to Lloyd and Carole Payne. She grew up in Gilman City. She graduated from Trenton Junior College (now North Central Missouri College) in 1975 with an associate in arts degree. She then attended Northwest Missouri State University, where she received an education degree in home economics in 1977. Kathryn was the first in her family to earn a college degree.
In 1978, Kathryn married Richard and together they managed a farm in the Trenton area, where they raised crops, cattle, sheep and hogs.
Kathryn was a youth case manager at North Central Missouri Mental Health Center for 17 years. She was a paraprofessional at Rissler Elementary School in Trenton, where she greatly enjoyed working with the children.
Kathryn was a devoted member of Hodge Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the choir and served as a deacon. She enjoyed being a part of several activities the church hosted.
Kathryn’s greatest pride in her life were her two children, Jenna Gibson and Michael Witten. She took great joy in spending time with her two grandsons, Jake and Cale Gibson. She always carried pictures of her family with her and loved them very much.
Kathryn is preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Payne, and her father, Lloyd Payne.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Witten of Trenton; her daughter, Jenna Gibson (husband, Luke Gibson) of Savannah; her son, Michael Witten of Trenton; her grandsons, Jake and Cale Gibson, also of Savannah; and her mother, Carole Payne of Trenton.
Kathryn will be remembered for having a big heart, a contagious laugh and the energy to always help others in need.
